Mother Goose to continue with Easter event

Although the Mother Goose House has recently sustained damage, representatives of the business said they will continue with plans to hold their Easter Egg Giveaway event. On Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3, community members are encouraged to shop at locally-owned small businesses on North Main and get a free prize egg to take to one of the other shops. Sherry Spradlin, owner of the Mother Goose Gift Shop and Inn, said that 12 local businesses will be participating in this year s event. Each of the participating businesses have plastic eggs with business cards or coupons in them, she said, and those business will be giving out eggs for other businesses.

Downtown Hazard to gain several new businesses this year, transitions to a new style

Hazard Herald photo by Katie Kelley Although the COVID-19 pandemic slowed many aspects of life down last year, local officials continued to work on revitalizing downtown Hazard and expanding the businesses located in the area. In recent months, much of that work has shown with multiple new businesses opening downtown and several more scheduled to open within the next few months. Among the new businesses set to open this year are salons, restaurants and more, said local leaders. Downtown Coordinator Bailey Richards said recently-opened businesses are being celebrated for their success so far. Some of the recently opened businesses in downtown include Coal Country Candles which opened in December 2020 and is across from the City Hall parking lot; Studio Be Yoga and Fitness Studio which opened on Jan. 26 and is located in the former NMotion Yo
