UPDATED: Slain Red Lake Nation police officer identified, escorted to Bemidji
The Red Lake Tribal Council announced on social media Tuesday morning that a police officer had lost their life in the line of duty.

REDBY The Red Lake Department of Public Safety has identified the officer killed in a shooting there on Tuesday morning.

Rev. Hyle R. Anderson, age 72, passed away after a long bout with Interstitial Lung Disease, related to Rheumatoid Arthritis. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on January 29th at 11:00 a.m., with LCMS District President Scott Sailer officiating. Viewing will be January 28th from 3:00 to 7:00 with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home in Aberdeen, SD. Following the funeral service at St. Paul’s, the casket will be transported to Cease Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. There will also be a service held at Trinity Lutheran Church Bemidji, MN, on February 1st, 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Moose Creek Cemetery, rural Shevlin, MN.
