Fishermen rescued, Gold Coast beaches closed, but surfers welcome big swells By Kimberley Bernard, Alexandria Utting, Nicole Dyer and Tom Forbes, Tuesday May 25, 2021 - 08:12 EST 90-year-old Wendy Leacock from Duranbah loves her morning swimàbut wisely chose not to venture into the big swells today. - ABC Two men have been rescued from Gold Coast waters after their 100-tonne fishing trawler lost control in wild weather this afternoon, following a day in which several beaches were closed due to the dangerous conditions.

Retired PIPD sergeant reflects on years of service to community On April 20, Presque Isle Police Sergeant Mark Barnes left the station after his final day on the job. Police chief Laurie Kelley drove Barnes home in his patrol car, the blue lights flashing as they stopped in front of his home.
Denny Coon, 50, of Columbiana, formally of Cambridge, OH, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021.
Denny was born February 1, 1971 and a graduate of Meadowbrook High School.
He is survived by his parents, Lavada (Brewer) Dyer of Byesville and Dennis Coon of New Carlisle; one daughter, Jorden Coon of Kentucky, formally Cambridge; two sisters, Krystal Coon Leonard (TJ) of Cumberland and Nicole Dyer (Keith Moore) of Byesville; two nieces, Amber Urdak of Cumberland and Bella Moore of Byesville; two nephews, Tony Urdak and Joseph Armentrout both of Senecaville; one great nephew and two great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Tina Coon, William and Marion Brewer and Stepfather, Earl Dyer Jr.
