Pittsburg County Election Board Secretary Tonya Barnes offers the following information and tips as the April 6 municipal elections, school board races and a school bond election approaches.
Elections include school board races in the McAlester, Haywood and Clayton school districts; municipal elections in Hartshorne and Krebs and a school bond election in the Canadian School District.
1. When is typically the least-busiest time to vote, with the shortest wait times?
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 6. Lines are possible at peak voting times. Wait times will likely be shortest at mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Anyone in line to vote at 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.
Pottawatomie County Election Board
Voters will go to the polls Tuesday, March 2, for the I-117 Maud Public School Bond, Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover said.
Please keep the following information and tips in mind as the election approaches.
• Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Lines are possible at peak voting times. Wait times will likely be shortest at mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Anyone in line to vote at 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.
• Anyone who needs to look up their polling place, verify their registration information, or view a sample ballot can do so online. The Online Voter Tool can be accessed on the Oklahoma State Election Board’s website: www.elections.ok.gov. Those who vote by mail can also check the status of their ballot using the Online Voter Tool. Sample ballots are also available at the county election board office.

Voters decided between three candidates for the office number 1 seat on the Western Technology Center Board of Education on Tuesday.
Incumbent Ray Challis gained just over 51% of the vote to retain his seat. He was challenged by Eugene Jefferson who obtained 26% of the vote and Dennis H. Baxter who garnered 21% approval.
In other election news, it was announced that a special election for Beckham County voters who reside in the Canute School District will be held on Tuesday March 2 to vote for two propositions for school and transportation improvements. However, only early voting will be available as the school district opted to close the one polling place in Beckham County with affected voters. Early Voting will take place at the Beckham County Activity Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, February 25th and 26
Voters will go to the polls Tuesday, January 12, for special elections in the area.
Local election board offices remind the public that early voting will be available to county election board offices from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday.
