A career readiness center in Illinois is moving forward without a $7.5 million state grant. The center represents a collaboration between 14 school districts, business groups and Lake Land College.
The Effingham County Board has unanimously accepted a proposal by Board Chairman Jim Niemann for establishing voting districts that will be in place for 10 years.

Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce travel program has three trips planned in 2021. Chamber travelers will be heading to Croatia in August, southern Italy in October and New York City in December.
“We are excited to reenergize our travel program after having to cancel trips in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic,” said Norma Lansing, Chamber President & CEO. “Our goal is to provide safe travel adventures for our passengers and our travel partners have put in place a number of safety measures to assure their safety. We are confident that their actions provide our groups with the security that travel with be handled with the utmost care,” Lansing concluded.

Effingham County Chamber of Commerce for meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve. Effingham Chamber President and CEO
Norma Lansing accepted the award, which was presented by Illinois ESGR Chair Laurie Silvey. The award presentation took place during the Chamber’s First Friday lunch hour meeting. The award also recognized the fact that Lansing promoted and organized an ESGR Statement of Support of Guard and Reserve signing ceremony for Chamber members, an event hosted by Silvey.

The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announces the upcoming retirement of President & CEO Norma Lansing, effective April 30, 2021.
Lansing has served as President & CEO since 1988. During her tenure, the Chamber has nearly doubled in membership size, became a county-wide chamber, and introduced many key programs including the Chamber Community Scholarship Program that has awarded over $200,000 to local students, the Business Outreach Center which serves local entrepreneurs and business owners with counseling, services, and the Cooperative Energy Buying Program, offering business savings on their commercial energy needs.
