PPP demands independent probe into arrest, assault of Caleb Kudah

The Progressive People s Party (PPP) has called for an independent investigation into the unprofessional arrest and alleged torture of Caleb Kudah.
Last week, Citi FM/TV journalist Caleb Kudah was arrested by the National Security operatives for filming some grounded MASLOC vehicle at the premises of the National Security Ministry.
While his colleague Zoe Abu-Baidoo would later be picked up by heavily armed operatives of National Security subsequently, Caleb Kudah after his release revealed that he was assaulted and manhandled.

#fixthecountry conveners to embark on their protest march irrespective of the COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings.
The conveners scheduled Sunday, May 9, 2021 for their protest march to register their displeasure with the administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo but they were stopped by the Police.
The Police argued that the protest defies the public gathering restrictions.
Preventing the protesters, the Police acquired a restraining order from the High Court which read the conveners, their associates and all parties interested in taking the protest march are prohibited from embarking on any demonstration on Sunday, 9th May, 2021 or any other date until the restriction on public gathering is lifted by the appropriate authority .

As the nation is in the era of fix it , PPP National Chairman, Nana Ofori Owusu says the Akufo-Addo government must fix the constitution before it can succeed in fixing the country.
The citizenry, particularly the youth, have risen against the government over what they say is bad decisions and poor governance by the President.
#Fixthecountry is currently the trending message to the government and social media has been buzzing with this hashtag as the youth embark on virtual protest after the Police stopped them from embarking on a protest march on Sunday, May 9.
PPP National Chairman, Nana Ofori Owusu has commended the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor over his determination to end illegal mining (galamsey).
The government, under the auspices of the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry, has held a dialogue with stakeholders in the mining sector to look at ways to streamline small-scale mining while eradicating illegal mining.
The Minister says he is fully committed to the fight against galamsey and has therefore initiated moves to end the menace.
On his working visit to the Western Region, Hon. Abu Jinapor pledged;
“I will stop the illegalities without fear or favour. No matter which political party is involved.”
