KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Police are searching for a 22-year-old man after a shooting in Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville Monday afternoon.
The Knoxville Police Department said the shooting happened after a fight over a financial matter between two parties. The dispute turned physical, and when one of the parties tried to leave, a man shot several times at a vehicle occupied by two people.
No one was hit by gunfire or hurt.
KPD identified the suspect as 22-year-old Devon Farris, saying he has not been taken into custody yet.
That shooting was one of three deadly shootings across the state Monday. The first left a mother and her adult daughter dead in Lebanon in the morning and a third shooting left three injured and a child dead in the streets of North Nashville in the evening.
The violent 24 hours caught national attention and now has school board members calling on Gov. Bill Lee, Tennessee lawmakers and other elected officials to protect our children. Firearms are the leading cause of death among children in Tennessee. We have an average of 105 children die every year from guns 60% of those are homicides. Pupo-Walker said before turning her ire to the governor s recent successful push to legalize permitless carry.
No classes will be held for the next two days at a school in Knoxville after a student was killed and a police officer injured during an encounter at the high school.
