I have a new favorite Tarot deck. Yes, that does actually mean something, because I’m up to five now. Every deck has a different personality and vibe, but right now I’m in love with the Modern Witch Tarot created by artist Lisa Sterle. Sterle is a comic artist and all-around awesome person who created a tarot deck that’s just what it says on the box: a take on the classic tarot that reflects the witches of today in all our diversity and beauty. I adore it and so did the rest of the staff here at the Mary Sue.
The folks at Vault Comics have announced a new series that will arrive in 2021 with
Witchblood. The work comes from writer Matthew Erman (Dark Crystal, Power Rangers), artist Lisa Sterle (Submerged, Modern Witch Tarot), and colorist Gab Contreras (Dead Beats, All We Ever Wanted). It’s being planned for a March 2021 debut where a vintage cover in 80s
Dazzler style will be used for it by Nathan Gooden and Tim Daniel.
“I am so proud and honored to get to announce WITCHBLOOD with my incredible, unbelievable creative partner, Lisa Sterle,” said Erman. “It’s been nearly four years since we made our comic debut with Long Lost and it feels like we get to share everything we’ve learned creating stories for comic shelves. It’s a big step away from what we did in Long Lost, but it is still us. Vault and the Wassel Brothers have been championing Lisa and I, and we couldn’t be more proud to work with them on bringing this to life.”
