Phoenix VA is treating COVID-19 patients who are non-veterans as cases rise
The Phoenix and Tucson VA hospitals are treating non-veterans for COVID-19 as cases continue to rise.

PHOENIX â The Phoenix VA has confirmed to ABC15 that after a request from the State of Arizona, they are treating COVID-19 patients who are non-veterans.
The request was made the day before Thanksgiving and will go until Christmas Eve, according to a spokesperson with the Phoenix VA.
âAt any given time we can take up to four non-veterans and currently today we have a couple non-veterans in our hospital,â said Dr. Leslie Lockridge, Nurse Executive at the Phoenix VA.

Sands and Utah Navajo Health System were honored along with other front-line health care workers and Dr. Anthony Fauci as Guardians of the Year a feature that is part of the magazine s Person of the Year awards. Sands said he was flattered when a Time reporter called and just wanted to include them in the story.
