“The Four Winds” follows the courage of women surviving in the 1930s Dust Bowl.
Kristin Hannah’s new novel,
The Four Winds, took on a significant evolution to come to its published form. The narrative journey, set in Texas and California during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl the period of time in the Southern Plains region of the U.S. when high winds and choking dust swept the country from Texas to Nebraska, killing crops, people, and livestock changed its shape as Hannah set about researching 1930s America and the hardship faced by both the farmers and migrant workers during the time.

The Elmhurst History Museum is hosting an online lecture on Victorian Christmas Carols by Alisa Clapp-Itnyre, Ph.D. and professor of English at Indiana University East. The lecture is available on Elmhurst History s YouTube channel through Jan. 4.
