“Our teams are out on the ground checking defences and clearing grilles and screens to make sure we are prepared for the next band of wet weather.”
As of Thursday afternoon, the Environment Agency has issued 182 flood alerts for some areas, meaning people should prepare for possible flooding.
The Environment Agency has also issued 40 flood warnings across England.
Flood warnings mean flooding is expected, and immediate action is required.

The UK is reeling from spells of severe weather, with many parts of the country experiencing snow and heavy rain in recent days. The Met Office has issued several new weather warnings this week, with some areas being warned of potential flooding. As of Wednesday afternoon, more than 50 flood alerts and warnings have also been issued by the Environment Agency for England.

The Met Office has forecast outbreaks of heavy rain across the south on Wednesday, issuing a weather warning for parts of the south of the country. The yellow rain warning is in place from 6am on Wednesday, December 23 and expires at 6am on Thursday, December 24, and will see 2.7 inches of rain fall in the worst affected areas, the warning said.
