CANTON - Little River Community School held graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2021 on Saturday, May 15. In addition to conferring diplomas on two seniors, they also recognized a junior who will be spending his senior year at The Clarkson School.
Elwood Warren-Kuelgen is the son of Cheryl Warren of Morristown and Daniel Kuelgen of Canton. Elwood started at Little River as a middle schooler, then left for several years and returned to complete high school. Elwood took a philosophy class at St. Lawrence University through the High School Enrichment Program. He has special interests in mycology, music, philosophy and religion. Elwood will be attending St Lawrence University on a full scholarship in the fall and plans to study philosophy and science.
Second state cohort of trauma-informed schools includes several from East Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Several East Tennessee schools will receive training and resources for trauma-informed approaches to teaching students, according to state education leaders.
The Tennessee Department of Education announced that 176 schools across the state were chosen for the second cohort of trauma-informed schools. These schools are recognized for emphasizing teaching strategies that recognize the role trauma can play in students lives.
