Young Leading the Young | Adventist World

5 Min Read Published on: 03-12-2021 Jessyka and Kiefer Dooley are Seventh-day Adventist Millennial youth leaders who say they grew up with no interest in becoming leaders. Through a winding river of circumstances including being introduced to a lifelong relationship with Jesus they have both developed a passion for summer camp and youth ministries. Jessyka recalls not having a positive experience in school or church until she met Jesus as a Friend. “I had an incredible chaplain and mentor my senior year in academy,” Jessyca says. “She connected me with a relationship with Jesus that was so much deeper than what the church had offered me in the past.”

2 Min Read Published on: 02-18-2021 The Executive Committee (EXCOM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church voted Wednesday, February 17, 2021, to move the 2022 General Conference (GC) Session, the quinquennial business meeting of the denomination, from Indianapolis, Indiana to St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The vote comes after GC Management was unexpectedly informed by the city of Indianapolis that the space in Indianapolis was no longer available for the June 6-11, 2022 dates. The dates voted by the General Conference Executive Committee will remain the same.  “The announcement to us that the dates in Indianapolis were not available came as a complete surprise, since we had taken this information to the GC Executive Committee,” Adventist Church president Ted N. C. Wilson said. “The officials in Indianapolis have been gracious but found they were unable to provide the verbally confirmed dates. We felt bad about not continuing the wonderful collaborat

"I Can't Breathe!" Selected Lessons from George Floyd's Death for the Global Adventist Church

“I Can’t Breathe!” Selected Lessons from George Floyd’s Death for the Global Adventist Church In the June 2020 Adventist Review issue,[1] several articles were devoted to reactions to the murder of George Floyd in the United States and its aftermath. A number of these reactions are of interest to this paper. Seventh-day Adventists are customarily considered by many people to be apathetic to social issues.[2] Jesus himself did not overlook them. Quoting Isaiah 61:1, 2 in Luke 4:18, 19, Jesus indicated that his ministry was focused on granting equity and justice to those people who have been abused by others especially by those of higher status in the society. Jesus did this because in the Bible God himself is repeatedly known as a God of justice (see, for instance, Isaiah 30:18), who intimately works for the justice of the underprivileged (see, for instance, Deuteronomy 10:18).
