During Wednesday s hearing about the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, House Republicans spent much of their time repeating a number of false claims about the insurrection as well as sugarcoating the actions of former-President Donald Trump and his supporters.

Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial begins on Tuesday in the Senate, with House impeachment managers claiming “the most grievous constitutional crime” over Trump’s incitement of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6.
The managers summarized the charge of “incitement of insurrection” in a five-page response to the 78-page brief filed by Trump’s defense team, which insisted that a former President cannot be tried for his actions.
Most legal and constitutional experts have rejected that argument, and there is precedent for the Senate hearing the cases of former US officials and judges, dating to the 1876 trial of recently-resigned Secretary of War William Belknap.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) ordered the return of the Texas National Guard late Thursday evening after troops were forced to evacuate the Capitol building grounds over an alleged mask complaint from a Democrat congressman.
“I have instructed General Norris to order the return of the Texas National Guard to our state,” Abbott announced Thursday.
The announcement followed pictures and videos showing troops hanging out in a parking garage something that reportedly occurred after Democrat Rep. Bill Keating (D-MA) issued a complaint about a maskless National Guardsman in a cafe in the building.
As Breitbart News reported:
After Keating commented out loud that masks were required to be worn at all times in a federal building, the National Guard member responded, “I appreciate my freedom,” according to the source.
