JACKSON â About 90 citizens turned out for Jacksonâs town meeting last Saturday morning. It was held under a tent behind the Whitney Center, and most doffed their masks. Moderator Willis Kelley, presided, along with selectmen Dick Bennett (at his last meeting; he chose not to run), Barbara Campbell and John Allen, and town counsel Peter Malia of Hastings Malia of Fryeburg, Maine. Most of the 11 warrant articles were dealt with quickly. All passed. Receiving the most discussion was Article 9, petitioned by selectmen to prohibit fireworks without a permit. The most controversial was Article 10, to rename the town for geologist Jackson, was petitioned by Assistant Town Moderator Jerry Dougherty. ....
Fairfield welcomes 2 new council members, 2 returnees Both had sought council seats in prior elections. The Nov. 3 election was the first done by district. Panduro will represent District 5 and serve a two-year term. Tonnesen will speak for District 2 for the next four years. Rick Vaccaro and Vice Mayor Pam Bertani were re-elected to the council but for the first time representing a district rather than the entire city. Vaccaro represents District 4. After the new members were sworn in, the council voted unanimously, on Mayor Harry Price’s nomination, for Vaccaro as vice mayor. ....
Newly elected Fairfield officials to take oaths of office FAIRFIELD The current Fairfield City Council will consider three block grant matters and a resolution accepting the Nov. 3 general election results, among the items of business, and then welcome two new members to the first seven-seat district-based council. Vice Mayor Pam Bertani (District 6) and Councilman Rick Vaccaro (District 4) will take their oaths for new four-year terms, while first-time members Scott Tonnesen (District 2) and Doriss Panduro (District 5) also will take their oaths.
