BAGUIO CITY – Twenty-one horses that tested positive for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) and bacterial infections at the Wright Park and Camp John Hay trails here are set to be euthanized or permanently isolated.

This was confirmed by City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) which found out after the laboratory examination that 21 out of 58 horses tested positive for EIA while four had bacterial infections.
The horses serve as one of the main attractions in the country’s “Summer Capital” – primarily for horse-back riding.

+ April 20, 2021 CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno confirmed on Tuesday, April 19, that the African Swine Fever (ASF) has entered the premises of the City slaughterhouse. The City Veterinary Office last week issued an advisory stating that the operations of the City slaughterhouse has been suspended for disinfection as recommended by the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS).
The advisory further stated the slaughterhouse, after disinfection, will remain closed until further notice or recommendation from the BAI for the resumption of operations.
