WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WDLB) â Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker has announced the discovery of human remains in the Town of Rock near Patton Drive and Fairhaven Avenue.
According to a news release the discovery was made as part of a two-day investigation involving the Wood County Sheriffâs Department, the Marshfield Police Department, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation.
Becker says the remains have not been identified but did say the investigation has to do with the Zach Vasa missing person case. He tells WDLB Radio, âWeâre waiting to positively identify them. So I couldnât say if it is or isnât Zachary Vasa right now. This is still an ongoing investigation so thereâs still going to be follow up that Marshfield PD and the Sheriffâs Department will be doing,â.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) - One of two pilots who were killed when a small plane crashed near Janesville reported engine issues and asked to land before the plane went down, according to a preliminary federal report.
The Feb. 16 crash killed Remington Viney, a staff sergeant with the Wisconsin Air National Guard, and Tanner Byholm, the Wisconsin State Journal reported Saturday.
The National Transportation Safety Board preliminary report said the Velocity V-twin, which is described as an experimental, amateur-built airplane, departed from Appleton International Airport on the morning of the crash and was bound for Florida.
