/CNW/ - Every Canadian deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. The COVID-19 crisis has made it clear that affordable housing is key to Canada s recovery for communities across the country, including those in Calgary.
Today the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) announced $7.6 million in funding to support HomeSpace Society with the construction of 51 affordable housing units in Downtown Calgary.

Alberta broke a number of COVID-19 records on Friday as the province reported more than 2,000 new cases for the second day in a row.
There were 2,007 new cases reported, the province’s second-highest total ever after 2,048 cases were recorded Thursday. There are currently 21,828 active cases in the province, another all-time high.

Over the last 24 hours, 18,955 tests were completed for a positivity rate of approximately 10 per cent.
There are 649 people hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of 17 since Thursday. Of those, 152 are in ICU, an increase of one and surpassing the peak of 151 ICU admissions during the second wave.
