Emma Kapp crowned 2021 Ionia Free Fair queen
IONIA For the first time in two years, the Ionia Free Fair has a new queen.
Emma Kapp was crowned during the pageant Thursday, July 15. Kapp, of Ionia, is a 2021 graduate of Ionia High School.
Amelia Johnson, of Ionia, was selected first runner-up and Tanner Bowen, of Saranac, was named second runner-up.
The queen and her court attend the fair s nine days, including participating in the parade Saturday, July 17.
Kapp, Johnson and Bowen also received scholarships from Independent Bank and will represent the fair throughout the year until the next court is chosen.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate all the organizations doing great work in the community as well as others supporting them. Allied Arts, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition all have recently announced grants to deserving nonprofits working to enhance arts and public health in Oklahoma.
• Allied Arts awarded more than $130,000 to 25 local arts and cultural nonprofit groups recently through its grant programs focusing on two areas – educational outreach and capacity-building, a news release noted. This amount brings the total distributed by Allied Arts this fiscal year to more than $2.8 million. There’s been a lot to enjoy through the Spurs’ 2-1 start to the season. The young players that San Antonio has drafted the last few years have as much of the spotlight, if not more, than the vets, while those same vets have made changes to their own games in the hopes of complimenting the youth movement. If not for a few empty possessions to close out the game against the Pelicans on Sunday night the good guys would be sitting at 3-0 on the young season.
