NEW ULM The Minnesota Department of Health says 82.8% of the 65+ population in Brown County has received one dose of the COVID 19 vaccine as of March 13. Twenty eight percent of all residents of Brown County have received one dose, and 14.3% are considered fully vaccinated. The Minnesota COVID 19 vaccine data dashboard can be found at https://mn.gov/covid19/vaccine/data/index.jsp.
Most of the vaccine up to this point in Brown County has been Moderna or Pfizer. With both individuals are NOT fully protected with the vaccine until 2 weeks after their 2nd dose.
“I believe there is a significant part of the population that is under the assumption that they are protected with one dose and that is not the case for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines,” said Karen Moritz, Brown County Public Director.
