הקורמורן הימי הינו מזדמן נדיר ביותר בישראל, עם שתי תצפיות עד היום. הראשונה התרחשה בקיץ 2005, בחוף מעגן מיכאל והשנייה במרץ 2021 באשקלון.

קורמורן ימי ניזון על דגים וכנראה גם חסרי חוליות. חי על חופים סלעיים לאורך חופי ים באוקיאנוס האטלנטי של אירופה ומרוקו ובים התיכון ובים השחור. בישראל אין חופים סלעיים רבים ולכן הקורמורן הימי אינו חי פה באופן קבוע. אזור תפוצתו הקבוע הוא גם בקפרי�
