Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 186,679
There have been 27,921 variant cases ID’d in the province, 1,058 new today. There are 1,383 in the South Zone.
13,193 active cases (63.2 per cent of total) have been identified as variants of concern.
There are 1,839 total new cases in the province today.
There are now 643 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 145 of which are in ICU, and 2,073 deaths.
The province completed 18,976 tests in the past 24 hours.
The positivity rate is about 9.8 per cent.
Alberta has administered 1,497,256 of vaccine at the latest update.

The Medicine Hat Public School Division announced three new cases of COVID-19 in its schools late Wednesday night.
Alberta Health Services have identified two additional cases at Crescent Heights High School, totalling three active cases at the school. The division’s statement says the school remains on alert and all close contacts of positive cases have been identified and are in quarantine.
River Heights School is also on alert and MHPSD says an additional positive case of COVID-19 has been identified at the school for a total of two active cases. All students and staff listed as close contacts are already in quarantine.

Medicine Hat Public School Division’s Pathways Program aims to work with students who may struggle in a classroom setting.
Alternative Programming vice-principal Greg Ferris once again presented to the public school division’s board, this time about Pathways.
“This is a new program in our system,” he said. “What Pathways is, is that schools in our system can refer students to us and it supports students with complex and diverse needs. It also is here for students with complex social or emotional needs.
“Pathways is an intervention program that, in our hopes, will help students gain skills to be successful in their community school.
