Over Twenty-Five Thousand Citizens Receive First Dose

As of May 12, 2021 a total of 25, 716 individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 15, 775 individuals have received the second dose. On Friday, May 14, 2021 the health team will be administering the COVID-19 vaccine at the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds and the Jacmel Wellness Centre.
The COVID-19 vaccination drive will cater to the general population for the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as well individuals receiving the second dose of the vaccine. The Ministry of Health continues to encourage all to get vaccinated in order to protect themselves, family, loved ones and others from the COVID-19 virus.

Today Monday May 3, 2021 the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of 13 new cases of COVID-19. This is from a batch of 165 samples taken on April 29, 2021 and April 30, 2021. These samples were processed on May 2, 2021.
These individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were assessed and tested for COVID-19. In-keeping with the national COVID-19 testing protocol, they were placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting receipt of their COVID-19 test results. Arrangements have since been made to place these newly diagnosed individuals in isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is underway.

Today Thursday April 22, 2021 the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of 11 new cases of COVID-19. This is from a total of 179 samples taken on April 19, 2021 and April 20, 2021. These samples were processed on April 21, 2021.
These individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were assessed and tested for COVID-19. They were each placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their test results, in-keeping with the national COVID-19 testing protocol. Arrangements have since been made to place these individuals in isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is underway.

An islandwide COVID-19 vaccination drive for principals, peachers, and ancillary staff of schools will official begin today, ahead of the reopening of school.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness is working closely with the Ministry of Education to facilitate the safe and sustainable re-opening of school for the third term in April 2021. According to officials from the Ministry of Health, “the health and safety of students, teachers and all staff of the schools are important as we continue to strengthen and prepare this sector for the successful re-opening.”
In an effort to ensure that the principals, teachers and all staff at the various schools feel comfortable returning to school, special considerations have been put in place to facilitate their immunization during the week of April 6 to April 9, 2021.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness informs the public of venue changes made to the COVID-19 vaccination schedule. The vaccination sites for today Tuesday March 9, 2021 are Belle Vue Vieux-Fort Wellness Centre Grounds, Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds, La Ressource Combined School and the Anse La Raye Primary School.
The confirmed vaccination sites for Saturday March 13, 2021 are Corinth Secondary School and Canaries Town Hall.
The Ministry of Health reminds people visiting the vaccination sites to walk with a form of personal identification to facilitate the registration process. People are also encouraged to walk with a light snack and water given a likely waiting time to get vaccinated.
