The Heart of Des Moines Farmers Market is every Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Forest Ave between 6th and 8th streets.
Dew Tour at Lauridsen Skate Park
Des Moines long-awaited, 88,000-square-foot Lauridsen Skate Park is scheduled to open this month, and it s starting with a bang. The Dew Tour, an annual skateboarding competition and the only U.S.-based global Olympic qualifying event ahead of the summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, will hold competitions in Des Moines May 20-23. Over 300 professional skaters will compete in the four-day event. While all tickets have been claimed, the competitions will be livestreamed at DewTour.com and on Facebook Live and YouTube. The tour is expected to generate at least $4 million for the local economy.

Spring vegetables
From scallions to radishes, spring brings the harvest of a wide variety of delicious vegetables. Foss said to check out Dogpatch Urban Gardens, a brand new vendor at the market this year. If you re interested in leafy greens, they ll have you covered with multiple varieties of lettuces, spinach and kale.
