For two teams that haven t played since Sunday, the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners have been making plenty of news.
The American League West rivals will get back to the field Friday when they open a three-game series in Anaheim, Calif.
The Angels Shohei Ohtani might not have won the Home Run Derby in Denver, but he stole the show Monday with a 513-foot blast.
The next night, he made history as both the starting pitcher and the designated hitter in the All-Star Game, getting the victory as the AL prevailed 5-2 with Ohtani throwing a fastball clocked at 100.2 mph.

Jacob deGrom continued making history Friday night, when the New York Mets ace struck out a career-high 15 in a two-hit shutout and also doubled home the gameâs first run in a 6-0 win over the visiting Washington Nationals.
The Mets snapped a three-game losing streak. The Nationals had a two-game winning streak halted.
deGrom (2-1) allowed a second-inning single to Starlin Castro and a third-inning double to Andrew Stevenson before retiring the final 19 batters. He lowered his ERA to 0.31 in authoring his fourth career complete game and second shutout.
deGromâs 15 strikeouts increase his season total to 50 â the most ever by a pitcher in his first four starts of the season. The two-time National League Cy Young Award winner became the third pitcher in history to whiff at least 14 batters in three straight starts, joining Pedro Martinez (1999) and Gerrit Cole (2019).

The Diamondbacks system is vastly underrated. The group includes top-end talent, flame-throwers, high-floor guys, and everything else in between. What’s even better is that there are plenty of very fantasy-friendly prospects here as well. From Corbin Carroll’s 20/30 potential to Kristian Robinson’s 40 home run ceiling to Alek Thomas’s all-around game, there are fantasy gems all over the place. Recently the D-Backs have placed an emphasis on hard-throwing draft picks, and those guys are sprinkled throughout the system too.
Looking further down on the list shows some very safe bets, meaning there are likely many future major leaguers here. Granted, they may not become superstars, but there are regulars, utility guys, and solid bullpen options here to pick from. There is a lot to like and it’s starting to rival any of the top-end farm systems. With the team still acquiring prospects, it should only continue to get better in 2021.
