The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Wednesday held its first hearing looking into the issues of vote fraud and other irregularities surrounding the 2020 election.
The committee’s chairman, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., defended the hearing against Democratic detractors.
Johnson said the hearing was about ensuring confidence in the electoral system and getting to the facts. The hearing included testimony from legal and election security experts, as well as from witnesses from the hotly contested states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada.
Returning Officers get Writs for THA Elections
With the date for the Tobago House of Assembly Elections having been declared as Monday January 25 th 2021, Returning Officers were presented with their respective Writs, giving them the authority to conduct these elections on behalf of the Elections and Boundaries Commission.
Chairman of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC), Mark Ramkerrysingh, in addressing the Returning Officers, reminded them of the importance of their role and the part they play in safeguarding our democracy. Ramkerrysingh also stated that every election is to be treated with equal import and to be considered national in scope. Ramkerrysingh noted that the EBC is very well respected in the fraternity of election management bodies, having a reputation of conducting free and fair elections, and that the Members of the Commission expect nothing less in these upcoming polls.
