OMAA Gas-powered Buses take Centre-stage at Lagos Motorfair

By Bennett Oghifo Public attention within the Nigeria’s automotive sector will be shifting to the 15th Lagos Motor Fair inside the Indoor Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos as some visitors will for the first time catch a glimpse of the OMAA range of medium and high roof passenger buses that is powered by gas. Expected as a special guest during the 15th Edition of the Lagos Motorfair is Jelani Aliyu, director-general of the National Automotive Design & Development Council (NADDC) who is also championing the narrative of Nigeria’s gradual migration from petrol to gas-powered and electric vehicles as an alternative source of energy to move vehicles.

FG Urged to Address Challenges in Autogas Policy

By Bennett Oghifo Players in the nation’s energy sector have said advised the federal government to address inherent challenges as it relies on intervention by the Central Bank of Nigeria to implement the National Gas Expansion Programme and National Autogas Roll-out Initiative. Recently, the CBN introduced a N250 billion intervention fund under the National Gas Expansion Programme, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, had disclosed that the government would work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ensure full implementation of the Auto Gas Policy. CBN had, in gas policy framework, said low level of investment was hindering domestic gas consumption, adding that the would stimulate production and utilization of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as clean alternative sources .
