Imagine living in an environment where you have no control one that is at the mercy of natural disasters, or of being used as a waste dump and having no means to buffer yourself. That is the reality for many low-income Americans, and disproportionately, communities of color.
Palm Beach County is no exception.
Across the United States and Palm Beach County, the decline of industrial production over many decades created a proliferation of unused, contaminated properties. These sites, which contain known or suspected hazardous substances some with soil contamination are referred to as brownfields in urban planning. ....
