But lucrative opportunities await those willing to take on larger roles, a new salary guide shows. The speed of digital transformation in the past 12 months is much more than the whole previous five years, and it s still accelerating, Tarek Kuzbari, regional director for Boston-based security company Cybereason, told

This digital boom has opened opportunities for criminals to continue using age-old tactics, such as ransomware, malware and email fraud, Mr Kuzbari said.
This has led to a run on demand for cybersecurity architects, managers and engineers to battle these threats.

Even before the outbreak of COVID-19, we were living more and more of our lives online. We increasingly shop, bank, watch, pay bills and communicate through digital channels. As of January 2020, Internet users in the UAE spent an average of seven hours per day on the internet and three hours active on social media. In Saudi Arabia, the figures are nearly eight hours and three hours respectively.
Cyberattacks a matter of increasing worry

Microsoft said late on Thursday that it had notified more than 40 customers hit by the malware, which could allow attackers unfettered network access.
The victims were also found in Belgium, Britain, Canada, Mexico and Spain among other countries.
Many private sector firms are leaving no stone unturned in beefing up security, to the point where they are rebuilding their servers and other equipment.

As the United States moved to work from home during the coronavirus pandemic, the criminals took notice and acted. But the recent surge in ransomware attacks against health care systems, such as the University of Vermont’s Health Network, demonstrates that the impact of ransomware isn’t limited to financial crimes. What was initially dismissed as a digital version of extortion has now turned into a crime of life and death, as Germany has tragically found.
