Commissioners discuss annexation agreements, summer youth programs

GREENVILLE The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Monday afternoon to discuss annexation agreements, summer youth programs, and to signed a County Government Day proclamation. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall, and Larry Holmes were all present.
The board approved two petitions to annex over 16 acres of Wayne Township to the village of Versailles. The first petition that was signed by the commissioners includes 1.205 acres of Wayne Township territory located near K of C Hall, on St. Rt. 47 just outside of Versailles. The second petition signed includes 15.025 acres of Wayne Township territory located along Southeastern Versailles and includes a new housing development. The village will run new water and sewage lines from the territory to Eastern Versailles.

The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County held their regular business meeting Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in the Chesapeake Building in Leonardtown.
The Commissioners recognized important milestones and initiatives by presenting Proclamations for National Public Library Week, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, National Fair Housing Month, Administrative Professionals Month and National County Government Month.
At 9:15, the Commissioners held a Public Hearing to accept comment on the Department of Economic Development’s request for a Property Tax Incentive for Investing in Commercial Properties ordinance.
The Commissioners approved a request from the Sheriff’s Office to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the St. Mary’s County Health Department for the State Opioid Response Year 2 Supplemental Grant No-Cost-Extension for Jail-Based Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Re-entry grant, project US2107, for the revised amount of $387,419. The Sussex County Board of County Commissioners spent a considerable portion of their Wednesday night meeting recognizing the efforts of several non-profit groups and volunteer initiatives within Sussex County.
Among the honorees were volunteers at the county’s vaccination site as part of Volunteer Appreciation Month; Ginnie’s House Children’s Advocacy Center for Child Abuse Prevention Month; DASI for Sexual Assault Awareness Month; the efforts of the county’s Municipal Alliance for Wear Purple Day and Alcohol Awareness Month; and the role of Sussex County’s Government for National County Government Month.

With COVID-19 numbers still on the rise in Centre County, the commissioners on Tuesday voted unanimously to extend remote work another two weeks, through Friday, April 30. It will be reviewed at the commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday, April 27.
“Typically, when we make these recommendations, we look at different measures, including the number of positive cases in our area, the number of hospitalizations and, importantly, the impact on our own employee workforce,” said county administrator Margaret Gray. “Right now, in contrast to about two weeks ago, the number of situations, cases, quarantine cases within our own workforce has stabilized and decreased.”
