Lakeland Union High School District principal Justin Szews has accepted the principal job at Three Lakes Junior/Senior High School. He will leave Lakeland at the end of this school year.
The school board accepted his resignation Monday, giving the veteran administrator two rounds of applause, as board members and others praised his service and dedication.
“He’s an excellent principal and an excellent, outstanding person,” said Administrator Rob Way.
“We truly are going to miss you,” said newly elected board president Gary Smith. “Know that you’re going to be successful no matter where you go. We really, really appreciate what you’ve done.”

SPRINGDALE, Ark. Lakeside Junior High School Assistant Principal, Chelsea Jennings has been named National Assistant Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
Jennings is the second assistant principal from Arkansas ever to win the honor. The first was Principal Dr. Michael Shepherd, who was assistant principal at Springdale Har-Ber High School and is currently the principal.
“Since hearing the news, I have had a smile from ear-to-ear,” said Jennings, in her fifth year as Lakeside assistant principal. “I’ve also shed a few happy and emotional tears. Dr. Denver J. Fowler is currently the chair of the EdD program and professor of PK-12 Educational Leadership at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to his appointment at Franklin University, he served as a program coordinator and assistant professor of educational leadership and policy studies at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). In addition to this role, Dr. Fowler served as an elected senator on the faculty senate at CSUS. Dr. Fowler is starting his eleventh year in higher education (six years part-time and four years full-time). Prior to his appointment at CSUS, Dr. Fowler served as an assistant professor of educational leadership at The University of Mississippi (UM) where he taught within the PhD, EdD, EdS, Master of Education, and Principal Corps programs as well as served on several dissertation committees. Dr. Dale Miller, assistant principal at Davies High School, has been named the North Dakota Assistant Principal of the Year by the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals (NDASSP). Now designated a state winner by NDASSP, Miller is eligible to be the 2021 NASSP National Assistant Principal of the Year. When Davies High opened in 2011, Dale moved to an assistant principal at Davies High school where he is currently working.
