According to the Diverse Elders Coalition, Asian-American and Pacific Islanders are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population as their population is expected to grow 145% in the next 40 years. However, due to discrimination and isolation, they experience an overall lower quality of life.

Published May 14, 2021, 12:24 PM CL (Very Cherry)  K-pop star CL announced that she is teaming up with ride-sharing company Lyft to provide ride credits to individuals who feel unsafe due to the ongoing attacks against the Asian-American community in the US. “There are so many layers of complex emotions when processing the rise of Asian hate crimes in the US,” said CL. She added, “While there is still a lot of work to be done, I’m encouraged by how vocal and urgent the support from our allies has been. I’m excited to partner with Lyft this month to honor the AAPI [Asian American and Pacific Islander] community, and help provide a safe solution to those in my AAPI community who are most at risk. Please take care of one another.”

The president also made funding from his $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package, which was signed into law in March, immediately available to state, territorial, tribal and local governments to promote community outreach and to assist people in getting vaccinated. State and local community leaders can use the billions in funding, which will be provided through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, for vaccine education, contacting residents to fill vaccination appointments and working with employers to get their employees vaccinated off-site or by setting up a pop-up vaccination clinic at work.   This will help states thrive . territories, local governments and community and faith-based organizations to make more progress on the ground, Biden said.

Biden announces Uber, Lyft partnership providing free rides to COVID-19 vaccination sites through July 4 Courtney Subramanian, USA TODAY Replay Video UP NEXT WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden announced a partnership with ride-hailing companies Uber and Lyft to offer free rides to vaccination sites to help meet his target of 70% of U.S. adults getting at least one vaccine shot by July 4.  The president announced the partnership, along with other steps the administration is taking to encourage Americans to get vaccinated, at a virtual meeting with a bipartisan group of governors Tuesday afternoon. The feature is expected to launch May 24 and run through July 4.
