ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday approached the Supreme Court with appeals against bail granted to three PML-N leaders facing corruption references, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal and Miftah Ismail.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had granted post-arrest bail to Mr Ismail on Dec 23, 2019, and to Mr Abbasi and Mr Iqbal on Feb 25, 2020.
Former prime minister Abbasi and former chairman of the Sui Southern Gas Company Ismail were arrested by NAB on July 18, 2019, and August 7, 2019, respectively, on the allegations of irregularities in the LNG terminal and branch pipelines project that allegedly culminated in causing huge loss to national exchequer on the complaint of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed. Later NAB received a number of complaints from other sources.

ISLAMABAD: Just a day before the scheduled auctioning of three immovable properties associated with former premier Nawaz Sharif in Lahore and Sheikhupura, three petitions were filed before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the government order.
An accountability court had directed the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Punjab government last month to sell unclaimed shares and properties of Nawaz Sharif who is absconding in the Toshakhana reference and deposit the proceeds with the state treasury.
Three petitioners namely Mian Barkat Ali, Aslam Aziz and Ashraf Malik on Tuesday challenged the district administration order for auction of a house at Lahore’s Upper Mall and agricultural lands measuring 88 kanals and 105 acres, in Sheikhupura and Lahore, respectively.

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday filed an application seeking expeditious disposal of appeals filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz and her husband retired Captain Mohammad Safdar against their conviction in Avenfield Apartment reference.
On July 6, 2018, accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir had convicted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Ms Nawaz and Capt Safdar and sentenced Mr Sharif to 10 years in prison for owning assets beyond known sources of income, also imposing a fine of £8 million on him.
