Culture Crawl 626 “A Show 2 Years in the Making”
Clear Creek-Amana High School presents “Shrek” April 15-17, a show the school has now been working on for two years! Originally scheduled for April 2020, the school decided to try again in 2021. Cast members Laurel Preston, Joey Lepire, and Morgan Malli explain the precautions the cast and crew are taking to stage a live theatre show safely, including masks for the chorus and reduced theatre seating.

The Mid-Prairie High School FFA Chapter is preparing a little differently for their district convention this Saturday.
Mid-Prairie will compete at the Southeast District Convention at Mediapolis, but not in the fashion they’re used to according to Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA Advisor Elsa Schmidt, “Things are a little bit different this year because of COVID. We will go down at a specific time that’s been assigned to us and our kids will go in, compete in their contests and then we’ll be asked to head home.”
Schmidt says they’ll have entries in the categories of secretary’s book, reporter’s scrapbook and ag issues. She says students Bridget Fisher and Marissa Cline will also make presentations after they were balloted to become district officers. Those advancing from the district convention move on to the state leadership conference April 18-20 in Ames..
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team finished the dual regular season Thursday night in Tiffin at Clear Creek Amana High School, splitting a pair of duals. Mid-Prairie opened the night with a win over the Clippers on their home mat 42-33. The Golden Hawks got wins in contested matches from Malachai Sexton at 106, Owen Trimpe at 152, Vinnie Bowlin at 160, Kaden Meader at 170, Cael Garvey at 195, Josh Wallington at 220 and Gannon Callahan at 285, all by fall.
In the nightcap, the Hawks were beaten 48-36 by Central DeWitt. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team finishes the dual calendar tonight when they travel to Clear Creek Amana for a quadrangular with Central DeWitt, Mount Vernon and the Clippers. The Golden Hawks come into the night with an overall dual record of 12-10 on the year. They dropped two of three duals on Senior Night a week ago in Wellman, falling to RVC foes Wilton and West Liberty and getting a win over Durant. On the season, the Golden Hawks are led by Josh Wallington with a 32-3 record. The senior recorded his 100th career victory last week against Wilton. Senior Ben Meader at 182 has 31 wins this year, and juniors Cael Garvey and Gannon Callahan at 195 and 285 respectively each have 28 victories.
