SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 22, 2021 /PRNewswire/
MGM Springfield today hosted U.S. Green Building Council CEO & President Mahesh Ramanujam, Massachusetts Gov Charlie Baker, Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and other government and community leaders for an Earth Day ceremony celebrating the resort s multiple certifications under the United States Green Building Council s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) program.
MGM Springfield is the first private sector hospitality development to earn LEED Neighborhood Development certification at the site level. This recognition was partly earned due to MGM s decision to convert a brownfield site hit by a tornado in 2011 and create a human-scale, compact and walkable development with a light touch on the urban fabric.
Charlotte, North Carolina, has a longtime reputation as a regional banking center, but if youâre still dismissing it as a city built around business lunches, youâre way behind. In the past decade, Charlotteâs distinctive neighborhoods, entrepreneurial spirit, and food (and beer and cocktail) scene have come to the fore. As offices reopen in worker-friendly Uptown, the city is ready to get back to business. Hereâs our plan for a full Charlotte weekend.

MGM Springfield, Encore Boston Harbor and Plainridge Park casinos are still not drawing big enough crowds to bump up against the state’s 25% capacity limit.
But Bruce Band, assistant director and gaming agents division chief for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, said Thursday he expects crowds to grow as the state’s three resort style casino’s resume 24-hour-a-day operation.
He said three hours between 9 p.m. and midnight are prime gambling hours.
