As I’ve said before, our team at Noozhawk has been overwhelmed by the volume of reader response after managing editor Giana Magnoli asked for your questions about the coronavirus vaccine and its chaotic rollout.
But it’s been the subsequent heartfelt thanks from those same readers that has been the most gratifying for us.
A handwritten note from Hawks Club members Fermina and Steve Ferry of Goleta is representative of the kind of feedback we’ve been receiving.
“Your coverage of the confusing and anxiety-making process of getting a COVID vaccination has been spectacular for its thoroughness and clarity,” they wrote. “We have come to rely on it as our best source of guidance and background.”

I’ve been a professional journalist for nearly 40 years, and for the most part I’ve enjoyed every minute. But nothing in all those decades compares to the fun I’ve had these last 13 years with Noozhawk.
In spite of what you may have heard, this is an exciting time to be a journalist, especially in the pioneering age of online local news.
There’s been no roadmap through the wilderness for Noozhawk to follow so we’ve been blazing our own trail since our launch in 2007. We prefer it that way, actually.
From the very start, we’ve been blessed with a tremendous team, and I could not have gotten us this far without the leadership and expertise of my business partners, executive editor Tom Bolton and business development vice president Kim Clark.

Between the coronavirus, the chaos caused by Gov. Gavin Newsom’s latest stay-at-home order, and a terrible accident that took the life of a man who was just driving down the street, this past week provided the full range of reasons why Noozhawk is so important to your everyday life.
Every day, we hear from readers that our reporting truly makes a difference for them, and that no one else covers Santa Barbara County like we do:
» “Noozhawk keeps me feeling connected & up-to-date.”
» “We have really benefited from your updates on local news. It is so important now more than ever!”
