Oakwood barbecue food truck at SouthSide Garage in South Knoxville

After its usual winter hiatus, SouthSide Garage on Sevier Avenue reopened on Super Bowl weekend, and their customers have returned along with the warmer temperatures. “We had some really nice warm days and they were killer days,” said David Yousif, co-owner of SouthSide Garage. “We added more outdoor lighting and once there are more vaccines, we will plan on adding more long tables for bigger groups.” When SouthSide Garage first opened in June 2019, Yousif and business partner James Tourville had a rotating food truck schedule. “These trucks are not really built to travel long distances, and some have had to cancel at the last minute. And that reflects negatively on us,” said Yousif. “We didn’t want to do that anymore and saw that in other cities breweries (not that we are a brewery) now have a resident food truck or have their own truck that they staff themselves.
