Silver Creek woman charged in assault on officer A Silver Creek woman is facing charges of assault against a Buffalo police officer after allegedly striking him with a bullhorn Saturday morning. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced Tuesday that 21-year-old Savannah E. Karcz of Silver Creek was arraigned Sunday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Kevin Keane on one count of second-degree assault and one count of exposure of a person. Prosecutors say at approximately 9:58 a.m., Buffalo police officers were blocking the Ring Road entrance to Delaware Park when the defendant attempted to drive around the officer’s parked patrol vehicle. The defendant is accused of exiting her vehicle, hitting the patrol vehicle with her hands, and removing her shirt to expose her breasts. Apr 16, 2021 Kenneth Floyd “Ken” Abbey, age 70 of Mulberry, Florida, formerly of Churchville, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021, after a brief illness at Lakeland Regional Hospital. Ken was born in Gowanda, N.Y., and grew up in Cherry Creek, N.Y., graduating from Pine Valley Central School. Upon graduation he attended Jamestown Community College and then went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Brockport State University. Ken spent the majority of his working life working for Bausch and Lomb. This was a job that took him all over the world and he loved to share stories about his travels. Upon leaving Bausch and Lomb, Ken started his own successful landscaping/construction business which kept him busy until his retirement. Ken was always looking for projects to do, or something to fix, and he could fix almost anything. This led him to eventually build his own house and he was very proud of this accomplishment. Thirty years ago 1991 Veteran running back Kevin Mack and radio analyst Doug Dieken were the guests of honor at the fourth annual Cleveland Brown Backers sports banquet at the Dunkirk Moose Club. More than 110 members attended the event, which featured the awarding of a $500 scholarship to Pine Valley Central School senior Kristopher Kozlowski. The son of Jeff and Barbara Kozlowski, he is at the top of his graduating class of 45 with a 94.6 average. Forty years ago 1981 A transition from rock and roll to country music has paid off for “Rainbow,” a traveling band from North Collins. “Rainbow” known formerly in the area as the “Melodeers” is a four-piece group consisting of Jackie Foreman, brother Allen, both originally of Sheridan; Bill Volk of South Dayton and Michelle Oyer of Eden. The band has been touring throughout the United States and Canada and is planning an album sometime in the future.
