Nedrebo named Pierre School District Teacher of the Year

Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Mar 2, 2021 5:30 PM An elementary school teacher has been selected as the Pierre School District’s Teacher of the Year for 2021. Jen Nedrebo is a Title I teacher at Buchanan Elementary. Principal Ryan Noyes says Nedrebo is a lifelong learner and continues to bring new ideas to the students and staff at Buchanan. He says her desire to make others around her more effective is inspiring. The other nominees this year were Rodd Bauck, Kathy Askew, Leanne Schlekeway and Nichole Bowman. Along with their work in the classroom, the Pierre School District’s criteria for Teacher of the Year takes into account positive roles the teacher assumes in the community and respect expressed by students, parents and colleagues.

Glenna Fouberg, 78, of Aberdeen was named among the 2020 inductees into the South Dakota Hall of Fame and the Aberdeen Central High School Hall of Fame. Known as Mrs. Education and a teacher with a commitment to helping students on the margins of the state s education system, Fouberg began her teaching career following graduation from the Northern State Teachers College in 1963 and South Dakota State University in 1968.
