Schaffer, Wolfe collect major awards; Four other players receive All-SCAC honors

(Seguin) – Texas Lutheran’s Larry Schaffer and Kelly Wolfe each received major Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer awards on Wednesday. Schaffer was named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year, and Wolfe picked up the SCAC’s Women’s Soccer Newcomer of the Year award. Wolfe also was named to the All-SCAC Honorable Mention squad and to the All-Freshman Team. Joining Wolfe and Schaffer with SCAC honors were: senior defender Mariela Candelario, junior forward Samantha Martinez, junior midfielder Monique Sierra, and first-year forward Saibree Marchand-Simons.

TLU women out 2021 hoops season with loss in SCAC semifinal

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today Mar 15, 2021 12:21 PM (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Texas Lutheran saw its 2021 season come to a close Saturday afternoon at Colorado College with a 70-56 loss to the Tigers in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament semifinal. Colorado College, the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, advances to the conference championship game to play either top seed Trinity or defending SCAC champion Austin College. Trinity and Austin play in San Antonio at 4 p.m. Sunday. For the No. 3 seed Bulldogs, the season is over. The Bulldogs end the year with a record of 5-4. Colorado College opened the game on a 24-5 run and led by 23 at the half, 39-16.

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today Mar 5, 2021 2:07 PM SEGUIN, Texas Texas Lutheran will advance to the semifinal round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship after Friday night’s scheduled home game with St. Thomas (Texas) was called off due to COVID-19 safety precautions and protocols. “Adhering to the league’s COVID-19 safety precautions and protocols, tonight’s women’s basketball tournament quarterfinal contest between No. 3 Texas Lutheran and No. 6 St. Thomas, originally scheduled for 6 p.m. at TLU, has been cancelled,” the SCAC office announced early Friday afternoon. “Texas Lutheran will advance to play the winner of No. 2 Colorado College and No. 7 University of Dallas next weekend at a site and time to be determined.”
