Woman in her 30s assaulted in Dublin city centre Updated / Tuesday, 27 Apr 2021 19:48 Gardaí at Pearse Street have appealed for witnesses to contact them Gardaí are appealing for information about a serious assault that occurred in Dublin city centre over the weekend. A woman in her 30s was seriously injured during the incident, which happened on Dame Street between 4am and 5am on the morning of Sunday 25 April. The woman is still being treated in hospital. Gardaí at Pearse Street Garda Station have appealed for any witnesses to this assault to come forward. They are also looking to speak to anyone who may have been in the Dame Street area between 4 and 5am that morning.

Convicted bomber who was released under the Good Friday Agreement gets community service for attempting to falsify a passport

A convicted bomber, who was caught attempting to renew a passport in the name of a man who died in 1986, has been ordered to complete 240 hours of community service. Donal Gannon (58) was convicted in London in July 1997 for the offence of conspiracy to cause explosions and received a sentence of 35 years imprisonment. Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that he was released under the Good Friday Agreement in 2000 and that he is “a full supporter of the peace process”. Gannon told gardaí that he falsely obtained the passport as he wanted to climb a mountain in the US and did not believe he would be admitted entry with his own passport.

Appeal for witnesses to fatal crash on M7 between Nenagh and Limerick

The collision occurred shortly after 9pm near Junction 28 Castletroy between a car and a lorry, and the occupant of the car, a man in his 40s, later died from his injuries. The M7 eastbound remains closed this afternoon for a short stretch between the on and off ramps at the Castletroy junction, so motorists are advised to be cautious in the area. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly those with dash-cam footage, to come forward.
