It was the fifth most intense rainstorm since 2016, reaching 2.92 inches per hour. Flooding occurred in a few areas, mostly in Southwest Hoboken, from Third to Fifth streets on Jackson Street, and from Eighth to Ninth streets on Madison Street. By 10 a.m. almost all the flooding had receded, and city crews began cleaning highly impacted areas. Despite flooding, the city said both H1 and H5 pumps were operational, each capable of pumping up to 50 million gallons per day, as were the city’s two resiliency parks which together store nearly 700,000 gallons of water.

Hoboken to acquire Academy Bus property for $11M after five-year fight Updated Apr 07, 2021; Facebook Share HOBOKEN A multi-year legal battle over the Academy Bus property in Southwest Hoboken has ended in an agreement through which the city will purchase the property for $11 million, officials announced Wednesday. The city plans to expand the Southwest Resiliency Park at 58 Jackson St. into the adjacent one-acre block across Harrison Street. Academy Bus, meanwhile, will build 25 more residential units than previously allowed on a neighboring property because of the settlement. “It has been a long road, but the park will serve as the centerpiece for the continuing revitalization of Southwest Hoboken,” City Council President Ruben Ramos said. “We will be working to have the space available for use as a pop-up park for the summer, and also working with the public as to what will be included in the final design.”
