Recent COVID-19 deaths among people in their 60s and 70s in the Southwestern Public Health region is evidence that early vaccination efforts for seniors in long-term care has worked, the area’s top doctor says, but more people need to get their shots as soon as possible.
“We have gotten all seniors in long-term care and retirement homes and other congregate settings vaccinated and we’re not seeing the deaths there anymore,” medical officer of health Dr. Joyce Lock said April 21.
