Times-Reporter staff report Like every other operation in the country, the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market had a strange, yet rewarding, season in 2020. The TVFM Board found itself having to scale back on operations due to COVID-19, but they were still able to open and found themselves being rewarded for its operation. Despite the many changes that impacted the market, the TVFM was voted as the best farmers market in the state of Ohio as well as the best market in the Midwest region in the American Farmland Trust’s Farmers Market Celebration contest. Overall, the market ranked 14th in the entire country out of 1,250 participating markets. Because of these awards, the market received additional recognition from State Representative Brett Hillyer and Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives Robert Cupp as well as a commendation from the Tuscarawas County Commissioners. The market was also named the 2020 Organization of the Year by the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce.
