GODZone has cemented its position as the world’s
largest expedition adventure race by selling out in record
breaking time today. Entries to Chapter 10 of GODZone opened
at 9am (NZT) and numbers quickly skyrocketed, with over 100
teams registering their desire to take on the epic race
within the first five minutes of opening. All available team
slots for both the GZ Pure and GZ Pursuit race categories
have now reached capacity and additional teams will only be
taken on a case by case basis.
The prestigious 10-day
event is being held in New Zealand’s South Island, with
Sunday, 7 March 2021, 5:30 pm

An ongoing battle is
developing for second and third position on day three of
GODZone as the 666km race heads into serious backcountry
southeast of Taupo.
Richie McCaw’s sixth placing at
GODZone in Fiordland back in 2018 has been playing on his
mind and the former All Black seems determined to push his
isport team harder and faster to stay in the placings at
Chapter 9.
Richie and teammates Simone Maier, Dougal
Allan, and Theo Wordsworth regained the second position
overnight last night after bush bashing their way around a
21km Rogaine and trek section through the Whirinaki bush.

ever since to get on with the job of racing.
Day two
of the 666km event has not disappointed with plenty of
fast-paced action at the front of the field with all eyes on
Nathan Fa avae, Sophie Hart, Chris Forne, and Stu Lynch of
Team Avaya.
The team arrived at Rerewhakaaitu Camp,
near Rotorua just after midnight last night, having
overtaken Richie McCaw’s team isport and Queenstown’s

It will be all guns blazing when seventy New Zealand
adventure racing teams line up on the start line for GODZone
Chapter 9 in Rotorua next month.
The multi-day,
nonstop expedition race (4th– 14thMarch 2021) has
attracted some of the world s best racers, including
six-time world adventure racing champions Nathan Fa’avae,
Sophie Hart, Stu Lynch, and Chris Forne of team Avaya and
two time Coast to Coast longest day winner Simone Maier who
is teaming up with All Black legend Richie McCaw, Rob Nichol
and Aaron Prince as team isport.
