Blue badge holder charges scrapped in Southampton car parks. CHARGES for blue badge holders in off street Southampton car parks have been dropped. Southampton City Council has now completed a six month trial of charges for blue badge holders and has now decided to withdraw the scheme. The trial ran from November 1 until April 30 and covered nine off street car parks in the city. The council said the charges were intended to encourage the turnover of vehicles so that spaces in high demand car parks were available for all car park users when they needed them. But having consulted with blue badge holders and with Spectrum throughout on the impact of the scheme and after reviewing feedback the scheme has now been withdrawn.

First Latin-inspired radio station Fiesta FM to hit Hampshire airwaves

Fiesta FM is heading to the airwaves bringing a Latin-inspired party to listeners across the county. The station is being launched by Felix Pastor off the back of his Latino Awaaz show on Awaaz Community Radio in Southampton. The show has grown in popularity since the 45-year-old from Shirley started it three years ago and has inspired him to launch his own dedicated station. Hundreds of listeners from across the globe tune in for best-loved music from countries including from Spain, Argentina and Brazil. But now Felix, who grew up in Venezuela, hopes to reach even more people with the UK’s first FM radio station dedicated to Latin culture serving communities in Hampshire and beyond.
