Bill Farley, U.S. Marine Corps (ret.), represented the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs April 17 as guest speaker for the closing banquet of the Marine Corps League Mideast Division Convention in Rehoboth Beach. Hosted by the MCL Department of Delaware, the event included representatives from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., and national officers. Farley spoke about the problems leading to the alarming rate of veteran suicide and about the Crisis Awareness Challenge initiated by Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen in conjunction with the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs. Creative Patriotic Art Contest entries due March 31

March 10, 2021 VFW Mason Dixon Post 7234 Auxiliary in Ocean View announced the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest is now open. For rules, eligibility and detailed contest information, go to vfwauxiliary.org. Students in grades 9-12 must submit entries by the Wednesday, March 31 deadline. Students must be U.S citizens or U.S. nationals who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions, or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools to be eligible. Other eligibility requirements can be found in the brochure.

January 10, 2021 Greenwood Memorial VFW Post 7478 Auxiliary has announced that the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest will continue as usual. Brochures containing rules, eligibility and detailed contest information can be obtained at the Greenwood Public Library, 100 Mill St. in Greenwood.
