Dubai restaurants have begun offering discounts to customers who have been inoculated against coronavirus, amid a vaccination drive as the emirate seeks to fight the pandemic without closing its doors.
The United Arab Emirates says it has already vaccinated some 2.5 million of its population of about 10 million, the second-highest rate globally after Israel.

The Government of Dubai Media Office has been posting photos of the officials receiving the vaccine on its social media channels.
Shukralla, 32, from Dubai Police, also received their first dose.
Dubai Health Authority joined forces with the emirate’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management and the Covid-19 Command and Control Centre to oversee the
public health initiative.
The first vaccines will be administered to Emiratis and residents aged 60 and over, people with chronic diseases or disabilities, and frontline workers in sectors such as health care.
It is the second vaccine made available in the UAE after the Sinopharm jab was approved for nationwide use last month.
The mRNA vaccine was developed by US pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the German biotechnology company BioNTech.
The vaccinations will be available at six Dubai Health Authority facilities

Dubai has commenced its Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination campaign after receiving the first batch of the coronavirus vaccine on December 22.
The campaign will see Dubai Health Authority (DHA) providing the vaccination in a phased manner,
Dubai Media Office reported. The vaccine, recently approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration, was registered by the UAE’s health ministry late on Tuesday.
