5:15 p.m. | Council wraps up meeting Billie Wheeler talked a few upcoming events, then asked to play the video showing bad behavior during Daytona Truck Week that attracted attention at the Daytona Beach City Commission last week. A lot of these events take over a whole new life through social media and what happens over the bridge is total destruction, she said. That was appalling to me, to see those things. She said it s got to stop and she s engaging in conversations with several of the beachside city leaders.  Ben Johnson said to follow the playbook that stopped Spring Break and Black College Reunion and other events that got out of control.

FDOT to host hearing on DeLand-area roundabout at SR 44, Kepler Road

There are multiple ways to participate in the 5:30 p.m. hearing.  The in-person meeting, which will be attended by Volusia County Councilman Danny Robins, will take place at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave. Vice Chair Billie Wheeler will participate virtually. To ensure social-distancing guidelines and local ordinances are followed, officials are asking those who want to attend the in-person meeting to register ahead of time by contacting Todd Helton, project manager, at 386-943-5207 or todd.helton@dot.state.fl.us. Those who want to participate virtually should visit bit.ly/36wQn5g to sign up. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with additional information about joining the hearing. Internet Explorer will not work for registration or participation in the hearing, according to the FDOT.
