Forty members of staff are currently absent from William Farr C of E Comprehensive School in Welton, with three year groups of students also sent home for remote learning after an increase in coronavirus cases.
Years 7, 8 and 9 were sent home on Tuesday, December 15, as it became impossible for headteacher Jonathan Knowler to cover all lessons at the school.
However, the school remains open for Year 10 and 13 students for the last two days of term. ....

Trust in North East Lincolnshire Council "shaken to the core," says opposition leader

Revelations over business links between the former deputy leader of North East Lincolnshire Council and a convicted fraudster have “shaken trust in the council to the core,” an opposition leader said.
Labour Councillor Matthew Patrick called for an independent investigation into the dealings of Conservative councillor and deputy leader John Fenty, who stepped down on Tuesday, and Alex May, who was previously convicted and jailed for six years for his part in a multi-million pound scam.
However, in an interview with
BBC Radio Humberside, Mr May also said he had held meetings with “members of the council” and had “introduced a number of potential investors” as he declared an interest in “regeneration opportunities” in Grimsby. ....

There are currently 357 patients with coronavirus in hospitals in Greater Lincolnshire, but the government’s announcement on tier restrictions has been delayed until Thursday.
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust had a total of 204 COVID-19 patients as of Tuesday, with 126 at Lincoln and 78 at Boston Pilgrim. The total moved up by one to 205 during the morning of Wednesday, December 16.
Chief Executive Andrew Morgan confirmed that a total of 1,140 staff are currently off work, including 654 through COVID-19 reasons.

Emmerdale star gets COVID-19 vaccine in Louth
He feels “incredibly lucky”
Emmerdale star and Louth resident Patrick Mower feels “incredibly lucky” after having his coronavirus vaccination.
The 82-year-old, who was born in Oxford but now lives in Louth, had a long career in television and films before joining the cast of Emmerdale in 2000 to play the part of Rodney Blackstock.
Patrick had his COVID-19 jab in Louth on Tuesday, December 15.
He said: “Getting my COVID vaccination was incredibly simple and painless.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have had it and would like to thank all the wonderful NHS staff for making it happen.” ....
